Vivaldi’s "Four Seasons" are part of the twelve concertos suite called “Il Cimento dell’Armonia e dell’Inventione”, literally "The Contest between Harmony and Invention”.

The “Summer” section is divided in three movements: the “Allegro non molto”, featuring - as Vivaldi says - the climate’s languor, with birds singing and a mild wind blowing in the background; then the “Adagio” pervaded with growing anxiety, leading to the storm described in the final “Presto”. Full of energy and contrasts, with the solo instrument alternating with the full orchestra, in a succession of sudden "pianissimo" and “fortissimo”, this final movement is a metaphor of real life. Enjoy it and experiment how powerful and creative it may be. Here, violinist Salvatore Accardo is accompanied by the Italian Chamber Orchestra.
